What is mutation of land on the basis of genealogy or inheritance?

                                            We know that private land stands recorded in the name of a particular person. Column-II of the RoR reflects the same. That particular person is called Recorded Tenant(RT).After the death of the RT,it is obvious that right, title and interest of the land passes over to his offspring naturally. Since the land cannot be recorded in the name of a dead person, it is incumbent upon the legal heirs they should get it recorded in their names. Such recording of land is known as mutation on the basis of genealogy or inheritance or succession. 

                                  The Tahasildar can effect such mutation on the application of the legal heirs or on receipt of intimation from his sub-ordinates or on his own motion.
